Known as Heang by his friends, Heang is a Member of State Parliament in Victoria, representing the District of Clarinda. He was elected in November 2018. Heang lives in Springvale with his wife and three children.

Heang migrated to Australia from Cambodia when he was 16 years old and has since become a proud resident of the Springvale area and Victorian community. After arriving in Australia, Heang attended the English Language School at Westall Secondary and attended Heatherhill Secondary College in Keysborough before completing a double degree in Arts and Laws, Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice, Graduate Certificate in Migration Law.

Prior to being elected to the Victorian Parliament, Heang worked as a suburban legal practitioner for more than a decade, as well as an SBS broadcaster for Khmer programs. Heang also served as a councilor in the City of Greater Dandenong (2012-2018) and was mayor of the city in 2015-2016.

Clarinda is one of Victoria’s most culturally and linguistically diverse electorates and includes the suburbs of Clarinda, Clayton South, Dingley and Heatherton, and parts of Cheltenham, Keysborough, Mentone, Noble Park, Oakleigh South and Springvale South. Heang is proud to represent such a thriving, multicultural community.
